I'm cheating a little today.
So far these posts have always been about sharing cool music videos, but there weren't many of those in the 70s. Instead, I'm going to be posting a few live performances, and one of them is from the 90s.
You can get all three recorded versions of the three tracks below on the 70s Sampler no.1, or just add any of the three to your own playlists for jiujitsu.
3. Pretty Vacant - Sex Pistols
Punk music is good for jiujitsu.
There's other videos of this song, including a performance from Top of the Pops, and a serious number of live videos shot since the 90s, but speaking as someone who wasn't there at the time (born in '80), this performance by the band, pre-Sid, is my favourite I've seen yet.
Get this song on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music and YouTube, or listen at the gym on the 70s Sampler no.1
2. Rock Steady - Aretha Franklin
Funk is good for jiujitsu.
Here's Aretha performing Rock Steady live, which has a noticeable increase in tempo from the album version of the song.
Get this song on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music and YouTube or get the 70s Sampler no.1 and listen to it and more while you're rolling hard
1. Bambi - Prince
I thought about posting Bambi three times.
Not even different videos, just the above one three times.
I was late to the party. I'd have gotten into Prince much sooner than I did if the radio stations where I grew up played more than Kiss (the rock station) or Raspberry Beret (the top 40 station & grocery stores).
Both songs are cool, but when you need to get a serious roll on, Bambi should be a song on the top of the list.
Get the recorded version of the song on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music and YouTube or on the 70s Sampler no.1 playlist, where the song is the very last, because Prince is always the main event.
