November Roundup

november 2024 roundup

Autumn is here on the west coast, and along with it about two weeks of a runny nose, which has kept me the hell away from the gym, but also exacerbated the symptoms of seasonal depression.

The month started out with a real twist of the knife as we're still observing the absolutely idiotic practice of daylight savings time, which is more irritating in the autumn because of all of the mansplaining Chads and Karens quipping about how we all get an extra hour of sleep, when in fact it's more like all of society gets to experience a hint of jet lag, leading to all sorts of horrible side effects.

Now, I think I handle it better than Joe Average, but I practice good sleep habits better than I practice BJJ, and work a couple of all-nighters every week; you give me a block of 11 or 22 minutes free during the day and I'll be off napping.

But I'm getting less of the mood elevation when I wake up.

(If you also possess the nap-on-demand superpower, you know what I mean.)

So over the past six or seven weeks I've been starting my mornings not with the usual podcast or new album on the hitlist, but instead with downtempo and even ambient, and made note of a few albums in the listening notes post from earlier this month:

On the coattails of putting together the J-Rock playlists back in October, I finally got around to putting together the latest 3 Video Countdown of badass Japanese punk and metal videos:

Other than that, we uploaded four playlists in November:

Session Playlists

Session playlists all run 200 minutes (that's more than 3 hours) in length.

Looking Forward To December

On deck for this month is going to be more punk rock, some metal (finally), more Uppers because we can all use the help heading into the winter solstice and I think the Dub Session, because it makes me imagine a sunny drive on a coastal road in a convertible with a pretty girl in the passenger seat.
